With a background in Industrial Product Design and 9+ years in sustainable materials, she founded OTTAN to turn food and agricultural by-products into elegant, durable surfaces, leading the company from R&D through commercial pilots and early global adoption.

An impact startup focused on up-cycling green waste into high-quality materials to be used in interior design and industrial design products.
We see the beauty in the pieces of nature people call waste. From seed to tree, from tree to life… Our aim is to show that we can create anything from nature without consuming it.
So here we are, designing and producing colorful, pleasant and sustainable furniture, objects, lighting, and decorative/structural panels without cutting a single tree.

Wood is not that sustainable as we think anymore. We should create innovative
consumption habits and production models to let it sustain.
Every minute, 40 football fields of forest land are being destroyed and experts assume that if we don’t change our consumption habits all the forests in the world can be wiped out in 100 years.
1.3 billion tonnes of food which comes up to one third of the produced amount for human consumption is lost or wasted globally per year. 800 million tons of garden waste are generated in the cities annually. So, rather than damaging and destroying our one and only nature, why not up-cycling our natural resources?
Life is circular and we can create
a sustainable world by changing
our preferences.
As human beings, we either used up existing resources to meet our needs, or we turned to new resource production in order to consume, which damages the natural balance.
We aim to create positive environmental and economic impact by up-cycling tons of waste which we already have and continue to produce every minute to produce OTTAN products instead of using wood or other raw materials.
No need to cut trees!
We use peels and
leaves.
We collect food waste as fruit peels, expired grains, vegetable residues and garden waste as tree leaves or grass from local retailer companies, producers, municipalities and greenhouses.
After we gather all kinds of natural wastes, we prepare those wastes by cleaning, drying and grinding to create our natural raw materials and mix them with green resins beforei injecnting into moulds to create our minimal yet multi-purpose products.
It takes 50 years for a tree to grow, while it is only a year for leaves. In other words, both we can produce a product with 20 tree bodies or using the leaves a tree shed in its lifetime. So we don’t cut trees, just use peels and leaves.
